Peter Witts is a Certified Public Accountant with over fifteen years of Government Contract Accounting experience. His background includes tenure with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Northeastern Regional Office, until leaving in September 2000 to found his own public accounting firm. While with the DCAA, Peter was involved in a wide variety of audit related activities for large aerospace contractors as well as small business contractors in the Northeastern region of the DCAA. Mr. Witts has designed and implemented government contract accounting systems, prepared incurred cost submissions, developed forward pricing rates, conducted NIH A-133 Program Audits and supported several DCAA audits for clients. Sally Scott is an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service and has over 20 years experience in tax compliance and planning. Her background includes tax planning and compliance at law firms and financial institutions for estates, trusts, and non-profit organizations as well as high net-worth clients. Ms. Scott has been with Peter Witts, CPA PC as the Tax Manager since September 2005. Sally is responsible for managing the preparation of tax returns as well as preparing the complex business and individual returns. Sally began her career as a Tax Accountant at the law firm of Hale and Dorr and the law firm of Palmer & Dodge. Ms. Scott graduated from University of Massachusetts’ College of Management with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Bentley College.
Michael Gitlen is a Certified Public Accountant with over twenty five years of Federal Contracting experience. He has held positions of increasing responsibility at United Technologies Corporation, Kaman Aerospace, FARaero, and Bartlett Services, Inc. Mr. Gitlen has designed and implemented government contract accounting systems, developed forward pricing rates and has prepared Government proposals both on a FAR Part 15 Cost basis and a FAR Part 12 Commercial Item basis. Additionally Mr. Gitlen prepared a DFAR External Restructuring proposal, resulting from a merger, for a “Fortune 10 Company”, exceeding $500M. He has lectured locally on Federal Acquisition matters at the annual Boston NCMA conference at Bentley College and nationally at the DoD National SBIR Conference in Washington DC. Mr. Gitlen has served as the NDIA (National Defense Industrial Association) New England chapter President since 2002 (current members, 1500) which successfully hosted the 2006 NDIA National Small Business Conference in Newport, R.I.
